I am building out a VM to host a voip server, a minecraft server (FTB), the community website, and several other services in the hopes some random netzens will join me in my quest to make hanging out with random gamers around the world easier. The general idea of the community would be the promotion of civil competitiveness. The theme being to just have fun. The point being... just because.
My long term goal would be to gain enough members to have a stable donation base keeping the web services alive. More members = more services. I'd pay everything out of pocket initially and keep all records of donations public. All members will get to vote on what new services will be implemented, but since the work required to build/maintain such services equates to a part time job I will be the community CIO until a council can be formed.
Eventually, I would create a member ranking database to keep track of the leader boards. The leader boards would enclude individuals, nitch groups, and whole clans. The more each entity contributes to DuelLink the faster their ranking progresses. Eventually these rankings and points would make the entity elegable for real value prizes like merch and cash.
Cash bounties for site work will be posted by me and access to back-end resources will be given to trusted members of this community.
